Determinedly Demolish Some Things
As a wise Chinese man (Mencius) once said - Before a man can do things there are things he must not do.

9/4/10- They were Yours, You gave them to Me . . .
The prayer of Jesus for His disciples in John 17 stood out to me. His prayer showed His love and concern for His people like a father's concern for his children. He depended on God for everything and He freely gave them to the people. I need to remember once again, we are blessed to be a blessing!

Old-N-Wise Men's Group: 9/3/10 - Pouring Out the Water of Satisfaction
Well I have little hard time understanding this! but If king David was shame to drink water by him self with out his man. I kind of understand pouring out water to GOD. Because he wants to share blessing with his man.
I kind of understood blessing as Water. It has to come from some where, and it has to keep flowing, or else if the water stops at some where, it will be rotten. Especially blessing from GOD will last eteranl, if it keep flows.
hey how do I do just comment???

9/3/10 - Pouring Out the Water of Satisfaction
"If you try to satisfy yourself with a blessing from God, it will corrupt you. You must sacrifice it, pouring it out to God— something that your common sense says is an absurd waste"
For us living in this country, we enjoy God's blessing of material wealth and it is true that we get corrupted when we hoard that blessing to ourselves. More money we make, we become unhappier and dissatisfied. We need to pour it out to God in however way He urges our hearts to do which we many times refuse to obey. Just like what Donald Farrell shared in his sermon, I do hear Him talking to me. But I give excuses to disobey them. Please pray for me that I'll have the ears to hear His voice and the strength to follow.

A Life of Pure and Holy Sacrifice- Thursday September 2nd
"His purpose is not the development of a person— His purpose is to make a person exactly like Himself"
Believing in Jesus Christ is not a 'self help' guide as some non-believers say. But Jesus want us to be dead to ourselves and be completely born again to be like Him. Help me Jesus to let go of myself and let you be the Lord of my life.

Destined to be holy - Wednesday September 1st
"Never tolerate, because of sympathy for yourself or for others, any practice that is not in keeping with a holy God" This stuck out to me in today's reading. I think we tend to be too sympathetic and too sensitive to ourselves and to others where we use them as an excuse or reason for being unholy. I should not use them as an excuse of my refusal to move forward into being more holy.

Saint
Can I ever become a Saint?
I can certainly try to be, But I don't know if I can become one.
Holy is such a superior word, and I'm not comfortable with this word to be a part of me.
But I know that, that is what God wants for me. So I think, I should start obey him.
Well I guess that's a start of becoming holy.

My New Joy
As Mr. Chambers says, joy is not necessarily happiness. But happiness brings out joy. And happiness, at times, comes from a sense of satisfaction or fulfillment out of doing something right.
If we can attain a level of love or "perfect understanding of God, and in the same fellowship and oneness with Him," we would also find joy in "absolute surrender and self-sacrifice to God."
I was thinking the Korean word, "도리," and made a lot of sense to me. It's not obligation, more like duty but for something universally right.
I have been blessed by many lives. I, too, hope to be blessing to others and live my life ... "hidden with Christ in God."

"My Joy . . . Your Joy"
After today's reading, I was asking myself if I have this joy. I don't fully understand this joy but I think I'm starting to understand it little more as I go through this life. Forgive me if I offended you older guys :) The difficulties that came in my life have proven to me that there is no true joy in them. The true joy comes only when I'm in relationship with God. I look at the life of Jesus Christ. He did not have the 'worldly joy'. He didn't even have a roof over his head and had to depend on God to provide everything. Yet, He was joyful even when He knew what He had to endure in this world. I thank God for some of the difficulties I had to face because they showed me the shortcomings of the idols which I tried to find joy in.

Welcome, old and wise men of ODM
I'm proud to announce our new blog site for Old-N-Wise Men's Group. You have shown great desire to keep in touch with one another, not only on Sunday, but throughout the week and wanted a way to grow together in spirit. I hope that this will be the starting point to achieve that dream.
We'll start off by doing daily reading from My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chamber. The link is provided below where you can get online version of reading. We'll read and blog anything that comes to our mind each day. You are not expected to write an essay that is so profound and wise. If you are taking longer than 15 minutes to write your blog, you are probably approaching this in a wrong way. If you don't get it, just say you don't get it and read what other people are saying. Just write something so we all know that we are all doing our readings. It's a baby step but I think it will be a good place for us to start.
So let's get going! Let's encourage each other to read the word of God and devote some time in quietness with Him.
